5 Different Reasons to Use Chelation Therapy

It seems as if I’ve seen chelation therapy in the news a lot recently and it’s made me think about how many different maladies chelation helps. I write a lot about the effect the therapy has on heart health and the importance of diet and exercise in relation to EDTA. But it’s important to showcase the little known health problems that chelation can help ease the symptoms of. Here are five different reasons to use chelation therapy.

  1. With BURSITIS, the pain comes from inflammation of the bursa most often in the knee, elbow, shoulder or hip. Bursae are fluid-filled sacs on the joints that separate the tendons and muscles from the bones. When inflammation occurs, free movement of the joint is limited, causing a lot of pain when kneeling, lifting, or sitting (depending on the joint affected). Poor circulation of the blood can increase inflammation, therefore causing more pain in the joint. Chelation therapy can help increase free flow in blood, helping reduce pain and lessening inflammation caused by bursitis.
  2. INTERMITTENT CLAUDICATION is the most prominent symptom of peripheral artery disease (PAD). It is associated with leg cramps that come and go during any form of exercise, especially walking. A pain or cramping in the calf muscle that occurs, normally, every time you walk is intermittent claudication. When you stop the pain disappears only to reappear again when you continue moving. Chelation therapy can help with this symptom of PAD by unclogging the blocked arteries that cause the problem. EDTA helps to improve blood circulation, therefore lessening or diminishing the symptoms of PAD.
  3. SKIN ULCERS are caused when your veins are blocked and blood is not able to move freely through them. When the valves in the veins are damaged, the blood is not able to pass through to your heart and it is forced to stay within the area of the vein. When this happens, often the blood will leak out of the vein resulting in tissue breakdown and skin ulcers. Skin ulcers can be very painful and slow to heal if not caught quickly. Taking chelation therapy increases circulation and helps send blood throughout your body rather than remaining stagnant within one area of the body.
  4. PSORIASIS is a fairly common skin malady that causes cells to build up forming itchy red patches on the body. It is a chronic disease that may go into remission and become active again at intermittent stages. Severity of psoriasis differs between those who have it, for some it’s an inconvenience, for others it can be painful and disabling. EDTA can help reduce inflammation caused by psoriasis therefore potentially lessening the pain and swelling that accompanies this disease.
  5. A blood clot within the vein potentially caused by injury or genetics can cause THROMBOPHLEBITIS. The blood clot is rarely life threatening if within a vein directly under the skin, however, if it is in a deeper vein (Deep Vein Thrombosis) it can lead to serious complications. The blood clot can travel to your heart causing a blocked artery or it can cause a heart attack or stroke. Taking EDTA can reduce your chances of blood clots by increasing your circulation. Chelation therapy opens your veins and arteries, removing damaging blockages.

And there you have it; five lesser known reasons to consider oral chelation therapy from Cardio Renew. A Poem for the Heart

In honor of the season:

A Poem for the Heart
Happy Holidays from Cardio Renew!

The tree is set up with lights all a-twinkle.
The presents are wrapped in paper that crinkles.
The star at the top, shines for all to admire.
The song in my heart bursting out, catching fire.

My kneecaps are numb and my fingers are cold
my heart skips a beat, my energy is on hold.
Yet my smile still lingers for everyone to see;
I believe in the magic I know is to be.

I crouch down on the carpet to peek underneath,
but the wrapping paper hides the treasures beneath-
with paper Santas and trees, paper angels and elves;
yet one present in particular, all alone by itself…

It catches my eye, a small box with a bow.
What is inside, just how could I know?
I hope for a gift to bring me relief;
a present so wonderful, it’s beyond belief.

Something to strengthen not only my heart
but my brain as well (as it keeps me smart!).
Something simple to cleanse my arteries and veins
and bring me some energy when I feel it wane.

I peek under the paper and to my delight,
just what I need for heart disease to take flight.
It’s easy, effective, it’s fast and it’s real;
it increases my blood flow, hence it’s appeal!

I smile with a sigh, my heart beat stutters,
there’s finally a way to treat my atrial flutter.
Oral Chelation from Cardio Renew;
thank you to Santa, I knew he’d pull through!

Benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation brings positive reinforcement to heart patients. By enhancing communication, teaching healthy living, and bringing structured rehab to patients, studies show the program increases a heart patient’s chance of survival.

Heart patients on Medicare are generally allowed up to 36 cardiac rehabilitation classes following a heart attack or other heart-related incident, yet many times, patients attend only a few, if any, of the classes. An article posted on WebMD states that patients who attend the full cardiac rehabilitation program have higher chances of survival than fellow heart patients who do not attend.

“In an effort to determine if more is better when it comes to cardiac rehabilitation, researchers analyzed data from 5% of the nation’s Medicare beneficiaries, including more than 30,000 heart patients who had participated in at least one cardiac rehabilitation session between 2000 and 2005.
About half the patients attended 24 sessions or fewer, biostatistician and study researcher Bradley G. Hammill, MS, tells WebMD.
Over roughly four years of follow-up, patients who attended all 36 reimbursed sessions were:

  • 47% less likely to die and 31% less likely to have a heart attack as patients who attended just one.
  • 22% less likely to die and 23% less likely to have a heart attack than patients who attended 12 sessions.
  • 14% less likely to die and a 12% less likely to have a heart attack than patients who attended 24 sessions.

The study will appear in the upcoming issue of the American Heart Association journal Circulation.” Continue reading the article…

One would wonder why, given the odds, all heart patients do not attend the weekly sessions. For many, it’s due to the doctor/patient relationship; some cardiac physicians have been slower in seeing the benefits the rehabilitation courses bring to the patients. As studies emerge, however, courses should see an increase of patients attending. Patients tend to trust their doctor’s wholeheartedly and if their doctor is not recommending the treatment, the heart patient will rarely pursue the program.

Coronary Calcium Scans

Out of breath, unable to climb stairs without pain in your chest, dizzy spells, heart palpitations, nausea and sweating—all these can be symptoms of heart disease. They can even be signs of a heart attack. Men and women alike should be doing all they can to help protect themselves and their hearts.

One option for heart screening is a heart scan, often referred to as a coronary calcium scan. They are called such because by completing a heart scan, doctors are looking for calcium in the coronary arteries that blocks free blood flow. Your test results are referred to as a coronary calcium score.

Getting a heart scan is not generally recommended for everyone. Those at high or low risk are not likely to be recommended the testing. People recommended to take the test fall in-between these two categories. The results of a heart scan will show whether your heart has signs of heart disease or the potential for a heart attack. Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of heart attacks and it occurs when plaque increases and narrows your arteries.

The Mayo Clinic website says “Heart scans use electron beam computerized tomography (EBCT) scan techniques to see the calcium in your arteries. This type of scan does have some risks. One EBCT scan of the heart, for instance, could expose you to the same amount of radiation as could up to 25 to 33 chest X-rays. Repeated heart scans over time could expose you to excessive levels of radiation and an increased risk of cancer. Because of the radiation risks, you shouldn’t have a heart scan if you’re pregnant.” For more information on heart scans, click here.

Oral Chelation provides an alternative to heart scans. By participating in a 6 week oral chelation therapy program, your heart will be stronger in just 42 days. Cardio Renew cleanses your body of toxicities and heavy metals resulting in cleared arteries. When calcium and plaque build up in your arteries, try oral chelation therapy to clean your system.

10 Easy Tips for Avoiding the Holiday Binge Season

It’s the holiday season. It’s amazing how fast this year is coming to an end, yet here we are just fifteen days away from the first day of 2010. Besides all the stress that seems to accompany this time of year, overeating or overindulging is also a big fear. Don’t wait until New Years to begin your diet and if you are already on one, don’t put it aside for the season. It’s easy to stick with it when you allow yourself to indulge once in awhile in a cookie or two and resist the temptation the rest of the time. Here are my top 10 tips for avoiding the holiday binge season. These tips are versatile. Some are meant for at home, others may work in the office or at a holiday party. Pick and choose the ones that may work for you and try it out!

  1. PHONE A FRIEND just to chat. By distracting yourself with other people’s lives, you can forget about your sweet tooth. I always call my childhood best friend and this way, we keep in touch at least once a week! She lives far away from me so by calling her I can keep up with her life when visiting is not an easy option.
  2. DEBATE or DISCUSS the latest music, movies, or other entertainment and newsworthy factors with the person nearest you. Keep your debate to a fairly easy topic to evade the stress that serious issues, such as politics, can bring on. Avoid stressful eating by avoiding stressful topics!
  3. WALK off the cravings… grab a friend and go for a quick walk. Or walk alone if you have to and daydream about something, anything to occupy your mind. Even just circling the building or house can help. Walk the neighborhood at night and see the holiday lights people put on their houses. I’m sure you’ve read in here before that this is my favorite thing about December. It never fails to make me happy and sentimental. As an added bonus, I love winter so getting outside invigorates me.
  4. TAKE 10 DEEP BREATHS and focus on each inhale and exhale to take your mind off wanting something on the dessert tray. Other relaxation methods you can employ include yoga, personal massage, Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), and guided imagery. PMR is one of my personal favorites but is difficult to do at work.
  5. LISTEN TO MUSIC… turn on the stereo at high volume to a station playing Christmas songs and sing along! Singing and happy music with a great beat always helps me during exercise as well. Music increases my motivation to run and I find myself moving in sync with the beat during exercise. By listening to a high BPM (beats per minute) you force yourself to move faster while focusing on the music rather than the difficulty of the exercise.
  6. SIT ON AN EXERCISE BALL and do a few quick and simple exercises to distract you from satisfying your sweet tooth. The ball is the easiest way to help you improve your posture and build your core just by sitting on it. Exercising on it 3 times a week for just 30 minutes a day will drastically improve your core muscles and overall toning. Another easy thing to do is replace your work chair with an exercise ball. I crochet while sitting on it at home which forces me to sit up straight while completing a project that’s so easy to hunch over with!
  7. RECITE ALOUD the top 3 reasons not to partake in the holiday tray and walk away. If you are at work, you are allowed to recite your top 3 list in your mind rather than telling all your co-workers! Your 3 reasons can be anything: whether it’s improving your health to increase your longevity, being healthy for your kids, or becoming healthier to lower your costs of insurance. Mine are purely selfish thoughts yet they motivate me most and therefore result in the more practical reasoning’s.
  8. FIND NEW RECIPES online to suit your diet. There are so many delicious meals you can make that will not pack on the pounds. You can even satisfy your sweet tooth with some really great diet desserts. Many recipes are easy to make, regardless of whether or not you know how to cook (I don’t). Plus it’s nice to eat a home cooked meal and so much healthier for you!
  9. PLAY A GAME… on your computer, with friends, using a deck of cards, on your TV; it doesn’t matter. I know a game of Mahjong Tiles easily distracts me for a half hour; and by sitting on my exercise ball while using my laptop, I’m helping strengthen my core and correct my posture at the same time. I once alternated leg lifts and calf exercises on an exercise ball while playing M.T. for two hours; a tricky situation until you get the hang of it!
  10. EXERCISE! This one’s easy. It incorporates a few of the other tips as well, however it truly helps. By exercising before you eat, you will generally eat less. So, when you are craving a plate full of sweets or holiday candies, go for a run or head to the gym to get it out of your system. Plus, exercise is good for you as long as you don’t overdo it! And by working out with a friend, it’s fun. Working out with a friend more physically fit than you helps push you further and expands your workout, therefore heightening the health benefits. My sister-in-law runs marathons and triathlons; she will always be more physically fit than I am but exercising with her pushes me more than I can ever push myself.

And to add on one more… RESEARCH Oral Chelation Therapy to find out how it can help you cleanse your arteries by removing toxicities and heavy metals from your blood stream. By increasing your blood flow, rich nutrients and oxygen are distributed throughout your body, improving your overall health!
